Eddie McDonough, joint managing director said BHP Billiton mines West Cliff and Dendrobium had just ordered mono-rails, as well as Austral Coal’s Tahmoor operation. The three systems are due to be manufactured by December 2003. The BHPB projects will be assembled at Macquarie’s Rathmines manufacturing facility and transported to the mine.
All three orders include Macquarie’s patented materials management systems, a secondary mono-rail that provides the facility to safely and effectively transport equipment and services to and from the maingate. Each modular system will also incorporate integrated bolting and installation platforms.
Macquarie has just overhauled the Xstrata owned South Bulga mono-rail for the Beltana project. Upgrades include improved services retention on cradles, and upgraded traction drive units. The system is in the process of being commissioned this week. The shearer water booster pump has also been suspended from the mono-rail.
