Cliffs adds expertise to management positions

The company has transferred Terrance Paradie to an executive development position with Cliffs Global Operations Group.

He will take on the role of senior vice-president and will report to the general manager at Cliffs' Michigan Operations.

Prior to his new role, Paradie had led Cliff’s corporate accounting and reporting functions, with additional responsibilities for global financial planning and analysis, and global tax.

As part of the restructuring, Timothy Flanagan has been promoted to chief accounting officer and corporate controller.

Flanagan, formerly assistant corporate controller, will assume responsibility for the company's internal and external accounting and reporting, including Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and disclosures, and global financial planning and analysis.

In addition to his new role, he has been elected an officer of the company.

Meanwhile, Michael Morris, who is based in Perth, will be responsible for the company's global tax function.

Morris is already the vice-president of Cliff’s finance sector.

He will return to the company’s headquarters in Cleveland to take on his dual roles.

Included in the appointments is James Graham, who has been named vice-president of global operations, while Dave Cartella has been appointed to the role of vice-president of global environmental affairs and counsel.

Carolyn Cheverine has been appointed general counsel for corporate affairs and secretary, providing legal advice and counsel for Cliff’s corporate management teams. Cheverine has more than 20 years experience as corporate counsel.
