The company said Monday that the approval, which was given to the company April 5, is filed as 120M-14.0.
“The new seal is a cost-effective alternative to other 120psi seals with improved design features and easy installation,” the company said.
“A rebar lattice is constructed then coated and filled with either a high-strength gunite or a proprietary concrete mix that is pumped from the surface.”
Strata’s seal has been designed for openings as high as 12 feet and as wide as 40ft, and with a seal thickness range of 31 to 48 inches. That thickness depends on the dimensions of the proposed seal location.
The StrataCrete seal, it added, has also been specially designed to fit into areas of limited space, such as in front of existing seals.
Strata also launched a wet-mix shotcrete to the industry last December.
The solution, designed for mine roof, ribs, ventilation corridors, walkways and even the construction of airtight overcasts, is twice as fast to apply as a dry mix and is the first wet-mix shotcrete that can be applied from the surface.
