The award is annually hosted by NABR in a bid to identify and pay tribute to organisations from around the country that demonstrate exceptional human resource programs and a commitment to employee development.
With its US facilities located in Virginia, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois, SunCoke is the largest independent producer of metallurgical coal in the country, as well as operating a plant in Vitoria, Brazil.
It supplies coke to the integrated steel industry and has been in business about 50 years.
The company said its heat-recovery coke-making process produced high-quality coke for use in steelmaking, captured waste heat for derivative energy needs and met or exceeded environmental standards.
The award winners of the best and brightest companies to work for are chosen from hundreds of competing companies, whose applications for the accolade are assessed and scored in categories including diversity and inclusion; communication; employee education and development; work-life balance; employee enrichment; and engagement and retention.
This year’s Chicago winners will be honored at an awards symposium and lunch on August 20 at the Double Tree Hotel in Oak Brook, Illinois.
The event is intended to allow the winning businesses to showcase their company’s human resource and employee best practices, participate in several interactive programs and take the opportunity to network among their peers.
SunCoke human resources vice-president Gary Yeaw said: “This distinction is a strong endorsement of our collective work so far and will inspire us to continue to do even more to attract and retain top talent and create additional opportunities for our employees.”
