Martinez served as Colombia’s minister of mines and energy from 2006 to 2010 and was acting as president of International Colombia Resources Corporation.
Pacific Coal also cited his service as president of Atunec, president and chief executive of Exxon Mobil Colombia and manager of corporate planning for Esso Colombiana.
He represented the president of Colombia at the National Hydrocarbons Agency and has served as director for several Colombian resource companies.
He currently sits on the board of directs of CB Gold, Pacific Rubiales Energy and Gran Colombia Gold.
Pacific Coal focuses on coal, coking coal, asphalt and asphaltite exploration, development
and production from prospective producing, development-stage and exploration-stage properties in Colombia.
Earlier this month, the miner counted 335 million tonnes of coal produced during the second quarter, representing a 9% drop versus Q2 2011.
Its flagship La Caypa open pit, however, produced 267,000 tonnes in the quarter, showing a 45% increase versus the previous period.
