The workers had been trapped since Monday when the coal mine in central Sirnak province collapsed, Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman reported.

The youngest miner was 18.

The coal mine is operated by a private company and local police have carried out an investigation into the collapse.

A Getty Images photograph of the collapse showed a dramatic scene of a truck almost completely buried in rubble at the entrance to the mine.
