All four placements, the locations of which were not disclosed, were completed within days and has brought the mines into full compliance with the federal outlines of the MINER Act.
The company’s tracking system, which can often be installed in mines in less than two days, received Part 23 approval from the US Mine Safety and Health Administration earlier this year.
“Our system provides mine operators with an easy installation and a reliable and safe voice and tracking system, all for a lower price,” Kutta chief executive officer Douglas Limbaugh said.
“Our customers much prefer voice communication over text messaging because of the day-to-day productivity gains voice communications provide."
The system, he said, had the ability to interoperate with other tracking systems on the market. No external power is required as all readers are equipped with batteries.
The Kutta Drum tracking system can be paired with the Kutta Drum communication system to provide mines with a complete, federally approved and MINER Act-compliant solution.
Drum, introduced in 2008, was designed to serve both as an everyday communication device and for emergency communication, making it ideal for mines of virtually any size.
