The US Mine Safety and Health Administration certified the Ventis without pump under its Title 30 CFR, Part 22 regulations when the unit is used with standard battery packs, or powered by extended-runtime lithium-ion.

The lightweight and configurable Ventis MX4 can detect up to four gases, including oxygen, methane and any two of the following: carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide.

The unit can also be configured with CH4, CO, and O2 sensors for everyday needs, or with CH4, CO, O2, and NO2 sensors for diesel equipment use.

Ventis is compatible with Industrial Scientifics’ iNet gas detection as a service solution, in use at more than 3,000 work sites in 19 countries.

The MX4 was released in 2011, and was deemed intrinsically safe for use in Australia, New Zealand and Brazil last December by the Australian Program for the Certification of Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres and Brazil’s National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology.
