The situation has prevented the transportation of about 85,000 tons a day of Drummond’s coal, along with significant tonnages of other coal producer in Cesar, Colombia.
This circumstance could affect more than 4000 direct jobs and 4000 indirect jobs at Drummond alone.
On July 23 railroad operator Fenoco’s workers went on strike, affect the line that ships all of Drummond’s coal.
“We hope the situation will be resolved as soon as possible in order to recommence coal production and shipments, which will bring peace of mind to employees, customers, suppliers and many others impacted by this unfortunate situation,” the company said in a statement.
