It will hold a three-day workshop event in West Virginia next month to gather input on its plans.
The US Mine Safety and Health Administration has invited mine operators and emergency responders to the National Mine Health and Safety Academy in Beaver April 3-5 for a series of sessions that are being held simultaneously with the 2013 Coal Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Preshift rules training.
MSHA has asked that stakeholder representatives attend sessions from both events, which will kick off with risk assessment at 1pm on April 3.
Mine rescue team readiness will be the theme at 1pm on April 4, and at 3pm the attention will turn to responsible persons’ readiness.
On April 5, emergency preparedness will be the focus from 9am to 1pm.
Attendance is limited at the sessions, so attendees have been asked to email kravitz.jeffery@dol.gov to sign up. Read-ahead material will be provided before the start of the event.
