Spokeswoman Samantha Davison did not disclose the specific readings to ILN that resulted in the 107(a) order being issued to Cumberland Coal Resources but said work was underway to remedy the issue.
“We have made ventilation adjustments to the longwall bleeder system and all readings are at the acceptable and required levels,” she said.
“As for our customers, they are aware of what’s happened and we’re working with them.”
She said on Wednesday that a meeting was scheduled for that day between Cumberland officials and the US Mine Safety and Health Administration.
No injuries have been recorded in the incident. Imminent danger orders are issued by the MSHA under section 107(a) of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, also known as the Mine Act.
Alpha obtained Cumberland in its takeover of Foundation Coal in July 2009.
