Flexco introduces aluminium belt cutter

Staff Reporter

A new series of aluminium conveyor belt cutting tools from Flexco, the company's 840 series, is said to augment its existing steel cutter line by offering a lighter-weight alternative for easier handling and also new features designed for improved operation and maintenance.

Flexco said the 840 belt cutters featured high-strength belt clamping springs that prevented shifting of the belt during cutting. "This assures the straight, smooth, perpendicular cut essential for proper installation of mechanical belt splicing, longer splice life and a truer tracking belt," the company said.

In addition, a 90-degree squaring attachment is being offered as a time saving option for use with new belts. Flexco said the new belt cutters had external take-up controls for convenient field adjustment of blade driven blade tension, while aluminium construction kept the tool free of corrosion.

"Unlike conventional push/pull belt cutting tools, the crank driven 840 series assures single pass cutting with virtually no resistance, through rubber and PVC belting up to 25mm thick," the manufacturer said.

The 840 series also extended the range of belt cutter sizes available from Flexco to five, accommodating standard belt widths from 610-2135mm.

Flexco products are distributed in Australia by Belle Banne Flexco Pty Ltd, based at Castle Hill in New South Wales.
