Company officials confirmed the agreement outlined the use of its biogenic coal-to-gas technology at the partner company’s site in Gujarat to produce CSG.
Visat, which has already completed CSG wells in the area but has not yet documented any production, will conduct the testing. When its goals are met, it will negotiate a long-term partnership with Next Fuel to expand the technology’s commercialization throughout India.
“India is one of the few countries with abundant deposits of coal that can't be mined due to technical and economic limitations,” president and chief technology officer Dr Song Jin said.
“Our CTG technology offers a unique opportunity for coal resource owners in India and the region to produce natural gas from those reserves. Based on recently completed laboratory tests utilizing coal samples provided by Visat, we believe that we will be successful in producing fresh natural gas at the site.”
Next Fuel chief executive officer Robert Craig said he was pleased to work with a company with Vista’s CSG operations experience.
“With India's vast coal reserves, we believe this project offers an excellent platform that will dramatically increase Next Fuel's visibility in India,” he said.
