The Vancouver terminal shipped 8.2 million tons of coal in the second quarter, compared with 6.1Mt in the first quarter and 7Mt in Q2 2012.
The second quarter was the first full quarter of operation following the expansion, which pushed annual capacity to 33Mt per annum from roughly 28Mtpa.
During the quarter 60% of the coal shipped was metallurgical and 40% was thermal, the terminal's parent company said in a filing Wednesday.
The company said it expected full-year shipments to total between 28Mt and 30Mt, compared with the 26.1Mt shipped in 2012.
Coal loading revenue increased by 19% to $C76.9 million ($US74.6 million), from $55.7 million in Q1 2013 and $64.6 million in Q2 2012.
