First Long-Airdox AFC in Australia heading to Southland

Staff Reporter

Long-Airdox is set to deliver its first complete armoured face conveyor in Australia to Southland Coal in the New South Wales Hunter Valley.

The company, which is also in the process of supplying pans — but not a full AFC pan line — to Baal Bone near Lithgow, is delivering 140 individual pans to Southland. When ILN caught up with Long-Airdox Australia's Ray Chadwick last week, 25 of the pans were sitting at the company's Argenton factory, near Newcastle, ready for delivery.

The 30mm pan line, complete with chainless haulage and a full complement of spill plates, will undergo compatibility trials with Southland's existing equipment before commencing operation. Southland operates a Long-Airdox AM500 longwall shearer.

Long-Airdox Australia is part of the Virginia, US, based Long-Airdox Company.
