A highlight of the partnership is the IntelliZone proximity detection system, which the Indiana-based company says is the only underground proximity system to feature a true X-Y positioning as well as SharpZone technology.

“Matrix is excited for Communications Australia to distribute its proximity technology,” president Aric Pryor said.

“As a leading supplier abroad, Communications Australia understands the importance of proximity system technology and its applications in mining.”

There are currently more than 100 systems installed at US operations.

Communications Australia general manager Tony Lucassen said it recognized the safety and economic benefits of bringing the Matrix proximity technology to the mines of Australia.

“The benefits of the technology, combined with Communications Australia’s in-depth market knowledge and experience, will enable our mining team to deliver cost-effective, tailored and technically advanced solutions to Australian miners,” he said.

Matrix Design Group is a subsidiary of producer Alliance Resource Partners.

Communications Australia’s line includes wireless infrastructure services, safety systems, telephony services and integrated communications services.

It has offices in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
