Slagel, who had a 35-year career with the producer as senior advisor of environmental affairs, director of environmental regulatory affairs and director of government affairs, will work as a government affairs specialist in the firm’s Canonsburg, Pennsylvania office near Pittsburgh.
His career has focused primarily on the coal and natural gas industries.
The University of Dayton graduate was also appointed by former Pennsylvania governor Robert Casey to the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Technical Advisory Board, where he still serves.
Slagel is a past chairman of the Pennsylvania Coal Association and the Virginia Coal Association.
