The 10-month project in Morris included three stages of demolition, construction and machine installation.
About 30,000 square feet was demolished in the project to make way for the addition of 60,000sq.ft of space.
Superior officials said the improvements involved 34,000 yards of aggregates, as well as 6000 yards of ready-mix concrete, four acres of concrete paving and 3.3 acres of asphalt paving.
The Morris space, combined with the debut of the company’s idler, pulley and conveyor accessory production in Prescott Valley, Arizona, will allow Superior to boost its component product capacity by 60%.
It also allows it to improve production floor design, ultimately speeding idlers and pulleys through the factory and improving industry-topping lead times.
“The new space allows double digit capacity increases for both our conveyor idler and pulley production processes,” Superior manufacturing vice president Paul Schmidgall said.
In addition to Minnesota – where Superior is headquartered – and Arizona it has a third facility in Georgia.
It manufactures and supplies stackers, transfer conveyors, ship loaders and stationary systems, idlers, pulleys and accessories.
