BNSF spokesperson Andy Williams told the Associated Press that 15 cars of a 124-car train left the tracks near Bridgeport in the state’s panhandle region about 5.30am local time on Sunday.
No injuries were reported.
Williams said BNSF brought in equipment from Grand Island, Nebraska and Cheyenne, Wyoming to help remove the cars from the tracks and perform the repairs.
The company did not indicate on Tuesday whether both portions had been completed.
The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
