The meeting, notice of which also was published in the Federal Registers, is set for June 19. It is scheduled to start at 9am at the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission office in Casper, Wyoming.
“The purpose of the meeting is to discuss progress in processing pending coal leases by application, to vote on a new LBA filing in the Powder River coal production region, and to discuss other federal coal-related actions in the region,” the agency said.
Officials will hear an update on the US Geological Survey’s coal inventory work at the event, and also be made abreast of progress in processing existing coal LBAs in the PRB.
The team will also consider and vote on an LBA for the Spring Creek II tract filed earlier this year by Spring Creek Coal at the BLM’s Montana state office.
Spring Creek II is adjacent to the Spring Creek mine in Big Horn County, Montana, and the RCT will vote on a recommendation for the BLM to either process or not process the application.
The agenda also includes a presentation on a potential exchange of preference right lease applications in New Mexico by Ark Land Company for competitive bidding rights in Wyoming.
Data adequacy standards updating for the PRB and an update on BLM land use planning efforts in the region will also be discussed.
Anyone interested in commenting at the meeting or providing information on the pending LBAs may indicate interest with the BLM Wyoming State Office or prepare remarks for the meeting day.
