The event is scheduled for September 4 at the Holiday Inn Martinsburg.
It is sponsored by the West Virginia Coal Forum and co-hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Martinsburg and Berkeley County, the Jefferson County Economic Development Authority, the Berkeley County Economic Development Authority, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Panhandle Business Association.
Both state and regional leaders will be on hand to discuss the importance of coal to the region, state and nation, with organizers finalizing an agenda to include speakers from labor and legislation.
“According to information released by the West Virginia Division of Commerce in February, West Virginia coal exports grew by 40% last year, increasing from $US5.3 billion in 2011 to $7.4 billion in 2012,” the WVCF said.
“West Virginia coal accounted for 49% of US coal exports in 2012.”
The event, which begins at 11.30am and should adjourn by 2pm, will include a buffet lunch.
