According to the Associated Press, the fire was reported over the weekend near Twilight, Boone County, and has burned more than a square mile of forest and leaves.
It was not clear which seam was burning or the specific cause.
The state Division of Forestry was working with bulldozers and chainsaws to clear fallen trees blocking access roads needed by officials to control the fire.
State officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
