Based on the successful heavy-duty TITAN Slurry pump, the first of the new dewatering pumps is currently being commissioned at a central Queensland longwall mine with an underground water problem. Two pumps have been fitted in series at the mine to give over 250m head. A single TITAN Slurry 100/65 pump is capable of 140m total head per stage and is designed for two pole direct drive. Capable of handling up to 5% solids, the pump has a 100mm suction inlet and 65mm outlet.
Sales manager slurry pumps, Jim Hair, said the new Australian designed and produced pump offered the same service and parts availability as the TITAN Slurry process slurry pump it was derived from.
“The TITAN slurry dewatering pump delivers around twice the head of standard process slurry pumps, this will benefit users with high wearing dewatering pumps,” Hair said.
The pump has a casing pressure rating of over 3 MPa and delivers maximum flow of 65 litres per second. It can be fitted with mechanical seals or glands and incorporates replaceable liners in various hard irons with generous wear allowances.
TKL confirms that the power demand for the new pump was similar to that of water pumps it would replace, “which means operators do not have to sacrifice power for increased wear capability,” Hair said.
