The Environmental Considerations in Energy Production event has been set for April 15-18 at the Charleston Marriott in Charleston, West Virginia.
Conference speakers include Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet secretary Dr Leonard Peters, Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory director Dr Anthony Cugini, West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection secretary Randy Huffman and Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy director Conrad Spangler III.
Alpha Natural Resources environmental affairs senior vice president Gene Kitts will also be speaking, as well as Consol Energy environmental strategy senior vice president Katherine Fredriksen.
Presenters from the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, Edison Electric Institute
and American Electric Power are also on the session itinerary.
The symposium has a high level of involvement from regional institutions including Virginia Tech, Marshall University, Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Pittsburgh, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and West Virginia University.
ARIES is a consortium of leading research universities that leads objective and scientifically rigorous studies to better define the impacts of energy production on the environment, human health, socio-economic and overall quality of life in Appalachia.
