Continental appoints Chamberlain to its board

SOUTH African thermal coal production, development and exploration company Continental Coal has appointed Ron Chamberlain as an independent non-executive director.

Chamberlain, 44, who joined the company on October 4, is an experienced finance executive with 24 years’ experience focused on the resources industry.

He brings a wealth of experience with Australian listed as well as private companies to the board, Continental CEO Don Turvey said:

“[Chamberlain] comes with very strong credentials and will complement the existing Continental Coal board perfectly,” he said.

“Ron has also been appointed chairman of our audit and risk committee.”

Chamberlain is currently the chief financial officer of Gunson Resources and held numerous executive and senior management positions in the resources industry in the past.

During his career he has been involved with the successful development of numerous global resource projects.

Chamberlain, who lives in Perth, Western Australia, holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Chamberlain’s only other current directorship is Genias. Within the past five years, he was a director of Extract Resources.
