In the spotlight will be ideas to prevent accidents and injury in Queensland’s mine and quarries. The largest mining health and safety conference held annually in Australia attracts over 400 people from all sectors of mining. It is designed to promote the sharing and development of safety programs and initiatives.
The annual Health and Safety Innovation Awards, traditionally presented in conjunction with the conference, will be given greater prominence this year, organisers said.
“Improvements in health and safety often come from a good idea, an idea that to some may seem simple, but to others is just what they have been searching for,” said conference chairman Barrie Mathias.
“That’s why this year the awards have been incorporated into the conference program,” he said.
Organisers called on any interested parties to submit papers for possible presentation at the conference. Nominations for safety awards are also open.
