Truck incident kills Rio worker in Paraburdoo

A worker has died at Rio's Paraburdoo mine after an incident with a truck.

According to a Rio Tinto spokesperson, an incident with a truck last night on-site at its Paraburdoo mine operations resulted in a man's death.

The spokesperson said Rio's deepest sympathies are with the person's family and friends at their loss.

Local police from Paraburdoo attended the scene and will prepare a report for the Coroner, and the incident is being investigated by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.

DMIRS director Andrew Chaplyn said the department sends its sincere condolences to the worker's family, friends and co-workers.
