The affected models include Pelican's 9410 and 9415 hand-held torches, which both have a battery pack that holds four nickel-metal hydride rechargeable Size C batteries.
The 9410 model was sold in Australia between January 2010 and December 2013, while the 9415 model was available between June 2013 and August 2019.
According to the safety recall notice, there is a risk the battery pack could become unstable, overheat and explode while being charged, which could send shrapnel flying and potentially cause injuries.
The ACCC urges all mine operators to check the models they use on-site.
