This advice followed the regulator having to respond to an incident at a mine's construction site in which an articulated dump truck was being driven along a newly built roadway that slumped and collapsed.
The truck's cabin tipped about 45 degrees before the driver managed to bring the vehicle to a stop.
He was not injured in the incident.
The regulator said mine supervisors should carry out frequent physical inspections of mine roadways to identify potential hazards that could pose a risk to plant operators.
This was especially important during significant rainfall when the potential for slumping increased.
Roadway standards must also be documented and include factors such as using competent material, compaction requirements and windrow specifications.
