According to the New South Wales Resources Regulator, the incident happened underground when the worker was parking an overloaded truck.
The worker had parked the truck and was out of the vehicle when it unexpectedly started moving forward.
The worker tried desperately to get back in the truck to stop it rolling, but unfortunately he ended up pinned between the door of the truck and the wall of the mine.
The incident left the worker with injuries to the foot and ankle.
Investigations by the Resources Regulator found the incident happened because the truck was overloaded at the time.
As a result the Resources Regulator has issued a couple of warnings to industry.
The department said it should be clearly marked on vehicles and operators should be made aware that when accessories are fitted to a vehicle - bull bars, custom trays/bodies, fire suppression systems, vehicle loading cranes- the vehicle's load carrying capacity is reduced.
Also, when looking for a good spot to park at log on points and tag boards, workers should avoid drifts and declines.
