The updates were completed by University of Wollongong mechanical engineering student Patrick MacNeill, who undertook industrial work experience with the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries last year.
In a presentation of the project last year, NSW DPI inspector of mechanical engineering Wally Kopp and MacNeill warned there are no new types of accidents, only people with short memories – and that those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
With a strong emphasis on Australia and the United States, the information is expected to assist the mining and quarrying industries along with equipment designers, manufacturers, suppliers and regulators.
The review was first completed by a previous student working with the DPI, Russell Noon.
The DPI said it acknowledges there may be alternative interpretations to some of the categories selected by the authors.
