Van Iersel, who is director of the Resources Technology Innovation Centre, part of the federal government’s Enterprise Connect division, has more than 40 years experience working at all levels of the Australian mining industry.
He has also held senior executive roles with global mining equipment manufacturers and been involved in the export of mining equipment to China.
“My role with Reed Mining Events will be very much an advisory one, and I’m confident I can make a very strong contribution due to my years of experience – and continuing involvement – in the mining industry,” Van Iersel said.
“I’m well aware of the latest developments in technology and systems, and the directions in which the mining industry is going to ensure Australia remains at the forefront of world best practice in mining.
“A key part of my role with the Resources Technology Innovation Centre is to explore global opportunities for small and medium Australian suppliers – and that’s something I look forward to developing through my involvement with Reed Mining Events.”
The exhibitions managed and operated by Reed Mining Events include AIMEX – Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition in Sydney, the Queensland Mining and Engineering (QME) exhibition in Mackay, the Goldfields Mining Expo in Kalgoorlie, Mining & Engineering NSW in the Hunter Valley, and Mining & Engineering Western Australia in Perth.
