SMC said it had reached agreement in principle to divest Eimco LLC to Germany's DBT, and the chemical products division within Sandvik MGT LLC to Minova (USA) Inc, Bluefield.

West Virginia based Eimco produces continuous miners for coal mines and generates about 400 million Swedish krona per annum.

Sandvik MGT's chemical products division makes mine bolt resin, a chemical grouting material to secure roof bolts in mines. Annual sales are reportedly about SEK100 million.

The Eimco business is part of SMC's VA-Eimco product area, one of five core SMC units.

Austria-based Voest-Alpine (VA) also manufactures continuous miners, with which it has successfully penetrated the big US market.
