MineARC said its newest version of the COS, which is designed to assist self-escape from a mine during an emergency, has up to 40 self rescuers.

The COS’s layout is designed to help miners and other personnel step out of a mine in the safest way possible.

In emergency situations where personnel are unable to exit a mine due to possible rock-falls and explosions, MineARC said the Coalsafe chamber would be a “go-to” area.

It said the Coalsafe refuge chamber could provide safety and shelter for up to 96 hours.

The new Coalsafe model can hold up to 14 people. MineARC says it is the only refuge chamber in the world able to provide intrinsically safe scrubbing and cooling, vital for ongoing life support.

Also on display at the event will be MineARC’s range of cap lamps and rock-bolt cutters.

MineARC will be at stand 2507 during AIMEX, from September 6-9.
