Only fourteen of 28 miners working at the Junyuan No. 2 coal mine in China’s northeast Heilongjiang province were able to escape when the site was inundated on May 2.
Ten deaths have so far been confirmed.
According to official state media outlet Xinhua, the miner was rescued at about 4am on Saturday and was in stable condition at a local hospital.
The press agency reported that two officials were dumped from their positions overseeing safety in the Xing’an district’s coal mines following the incident but an investigation into the exact cause of the flooding was still ongoing.
Rescuers have so far saved five miners in the weeks following the disaster while three remain unaccounted for.
Chinese authorities have previously described the first three days after a mine flooding as the “golden 72 hours” optimal for successful rescue.
