The briefing, which took place yesterday afternoon, was a closed council meeting to address local community concerns on CSG.

Officers at the meeting gave information on the controversial regulatory framework now in place in the state.

The meetings also include landholder rights, industry compliance, well integrity standards and the O’Farrell government’s aquifer interference policy.

A spokesman from the department told EnergyNews the meetings were part of a program the department had been running to make sure local councils had the right information.

He said the first round of consultations, comprising about 42 scheduled meetings, was almost finished.

He added that any council wanting consultation on what the state government was doing to regulate the industry could make contact via the website.
