BG subsidiary QGC managing director Mitch Ingram recently toured the Ruby Jo central processing plant to oversee commissioning work.

This CSG field-connected plant, along with similar facilities in Chinchilla, will send gas through a 540km underground pipeline to the QCLNG plant on Wiggins Island.

"This milestone was achieved to schedule and keeps us firmly on track to be the world's first bespoke project to produce LNG sourced from coal seams, with first LNG production due in the final quarter of this year," Ingram said.

"The central processing plant and field compression stations represent a remarkable achievement over more than two-and-a-half years by 1500 engineers, civil works contractors, mechanics, welders, electricians and other trades.

"Importantly, we delivered these seven upstream facilities safely while providing opportunities for local businesses and workers."

QGC awarded Thiess the contract to develop 17 field compression stations and four central processing plants at three Surat Basin hubs (Chinchilla, Wandoan and near Dalby).

The Ruby Jo plant has a nameplate capacity of processing 440 million standard cubic feet of gas per day with this gas expected to enter the pipeline at a significant pressure of 10,000 kilopascals.

First exports from the $US20.4 billion ($A21.7 billion) project are due in the December quarter.

The project is targeting 8.5 million tonnes per annum and is open to securing more third-party gas.
