Glencore to suspend Ravensworth longwall

“The company blames low coal prices, the high Australian dollar and geological constraints that have made it unprofitable,” ABC reported.

“More than 100 workers will be affected but some will pick up jobs at other Glencore mines.”

Glencore reportedly said it wanted to retain as many of the workers as possible due to their lengthy experience.

The two open cut pits at the Ravensworth mining complex will continue to operate normally.

ICN is seeking comment from Glencore.
