Minova’s products, which were initially rebadged under the Orica label, found it hard to compete in a market where more stable conditions in Chinese underground mines and increased competition in US and European markets squeezed its margins.

With a new, dedicated global management team, it will once again do business globally under the Minova name and brand, with a newly updated trademark and logo, the company said.

With manufacturing and distribution facilities located in more than 25 countries, Minova is a field-proven technology leader in its industry, with a long history of customer satisfaction, newly-appointed Minova president Scott Alexander.

“When Minova was originally acquired by Orica in 2006, the business was successful with a brand trusted around the world,” he said. “However, the business was challenged by changing global market conditions.

“Orica provided robust global scale and an aggressive acquisition program that greatly expanded the scope and reach of the ground control business under Orica. However, the Minova brand had a long history and was revered by both customers and employees. Today’s announcement re-establishes the Minova brand, which has always represented leadership in its field.”

Minova provides resins and mechanical stabilizing products, chemical and cementitious grouts and adhesives, ventilation control, as well as associated equipment sales and installation services. Existing customer support, distribution and sales contacts will remain in-place.

Minova has a long history of technological contributions to mining roof support and ventilation control as well as novel chemical and mechanical products used in civil construction and repair, according to the company.

“Minova is dedicated to these industries and will continue to lead with product improvements and delivery system innovations. In addition, Minova plans to introduce an expanded portfolio of products dedicated to general construction, civil and geotechnical applications in 2016,” it said.

“Minova is once again positioned as a global leader in the provision of earth control solutions for the underground mining, civil engineering, construction and geotechnical industries.”
