Targeting new markets for FIFO

Working with the District Council of Grant, TRC will aim to profile potential FIFO workers in the region and local infrastructure in an attempt to lure the attention of large project operators seeking workers.

The upshot of the trial, according to TRC will be that potential workers in communities which may not have had the opportunity to work on large resource projects without moving away from home.

TRC will also provide “education and awareness” about working in the industry and FIFO life.

At the end of the process, TRC will aim to have a report to employers on the region and the potential to draw FIFO workers from the area.

According to TRC, several large employers have already shown an interest in the program.

TRC said the region was a logical location to launch the pilot program, given the local community had outstanding trade, engineering and operator skill sets from the transport, logistics and manufacturing sectors.
