The Cedar Bluff Police Department told the AP on Tuesday that the family of Eric Smith, 42, is offering a $US5000 reward for information leading to his location or recovery.
Smith was reported missing on November 8 in the Tazewell County town when he did not return as scheduled from hunting on his property.
His 42nd birthday was marked last week with no search news.
Police officials have called the disappearance “out of character” based on discussions with family and co-workers.
More than 800 acres have already been searched by police, volunteers, family and the mine rescue team of Consol’s Buchanan operation, where Smith is employed.
“We are still hopeful that we will find him safe and encourage anyone with information about Eric to contact us or [Virginia] state police,” police chief David Mills said.
He previously noted that Smith, who is about 6 feet, one inch tall and 190 pounds, was not wearing blaze orange protective gear because he went out during muzzleloader season, when the colour is not required by state law.
