ACT president Steve Barrett told ILN that the unidentified operator and mine was a new customer, and installation would be determined following the customer’s Emergency Response Plan approval by the US Mine Safety and Health Administration.

The initial installation will include 24 ActiveMine nodes, as well as MSHA-approved network equipment, handsets, and tracking capabilities.

As the mine face advances, Barrett said additional infrastructure could be added.

"Our new customer was delighted to get both MSHA compliance plus productivity gains in an affordable leasing program," Barrett said, adding the new leasing program was prompted by requests from customers who wanted financial flexibility.

"[It] helps coal producers to get more out of their mine with monthly payments that help conserve their capital in these economic times. We look forward to contributing to their success.”

The ActiveMine leasing program is provided to ACT customers by a third-party Toronto-based industrial leasing company and is specifically designed for the mining sector with customizable terms.
