M&E NSW exhibition manager Soren Norgaard said there had been a strong reception to the first two days, with particularly good attendance in the mornings.

“We’ve had strong inflows of visitors both mornings and into the early afternoon – despite the weather and the very windy conditions – with evidence that major mines in the area are encouraging their people to come along to the show and see the new products and services on offer,” he said.

“Exhibitor response generally has been that they have been pleased with the quality and number of visitors coming through.

“Our message for today is that this really is the last opportunity in the next four years to come and see the only high-quality, professionally managed mining and resources exhibition in your region.”

Career Advice Australian Network, Rural Skills Australia and AIGroup will hold a 90-minute workshop today, with presentations made by industry employers, graduates and apprentices to showcase the opportunities in the state’s resources sector.

“We anticipate we’ll have between 60 to 90 students and school-leavers from schools in the Muswellbrook, Scone and Singleton areas attending the workshop,” Rural Skills Australia representative Charles Impey said.

“We’ve had a great response from exhibitors who, in these days of skill shortages, appreciate the importance of linking with school leavers and young people.”

More than 200 exhibitors have been estimated to take part in the industry event, organised by Reed Exhibitions.
