Harvey, a 30-year energy industry veteran and fourth-generation coal miner, will conduct his board duties in addition to his chief executive seat responsibilities. He has served as president, CEO and director since January 1998.
Current chairman John Whitmire will now serve as Consol’s board vice-chairman.
Harvey noted that Whitmire, who had been Consol chairman since the company went public in 1999, helped realize a 616% shareholder return during his tenure.
"John and I have worked very closely together over the years, and as I take on the additional role of chairman, I expect that our close working relationship will continue," he said.
Thirty-year industry veteran Philip Baxter will now be the producer’s lead independent director.
