Papers are being accepted in all mining types, including coal, aggregates, industrial minerals and hard rock. Past subject matter examples include:

  • Geophysics
  • Longwall mining
  • Multiple seam mining
  • Heading/entry/opening stability
  • Modelling
  • Roof bolting and design

Abstracts by interested authors are due to the chairman, West Virginia University’s Syd Peng, by January 12, 2007 and final papers are to be submitted by May 11. Those authors whose abstracts are selected will be notified February 16, and those final papers chosen to be included in the event will be informed June 15.

Sponsored by WVU as well as the West Virginia Coal Association, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and Mine Safety and Health Administration, the conference is scheduled for July 31-August 2 at the Lakeview Scanticon Resort and Conference Center in Morgantown, West Virginia.
