To be known as Ampcontrol EME, the acquisition will enable the company to provide service facilities to the customer base of the southern coalfields. Recently won contracts for longwall electrical equipment from the nearby Westcliff, Tahmoor and Dendrobium collieries will all be serviced by the new facility.

Ampcontrol EME will become an integral part of the Service Division of Ampcontrol offering HV maintenance service, hazardous and non hazardous area equipment overhaul and upgrades, onsite equipment inspections and PLC programming.

It will also provide sales and service for Ampcontrol’s manufactured products including flameproof components, protection relays and gas sensors.

Ampcontrol said this made it the only electrical and electronic service provider with facilities in the Illawarra, Hunter and Bowen Basin coalfields. Over the next few months Ampcontrol EME will move to larger premises.

“The Group has recognised the need to expand our service operations in this region and have chosen to do so through a local business,” said Dr Alan Broadfoot, chief executive officer.

“We have made a strong commitment to our customers expanding into the Illawarra region and we will continue to develop and build the service offered, aiming to provide local employment opportunities and contribute to the region’s economy,” he said.
