The memorandum is a significant step in cooperative opportunities between Simtars, part of the Queensland Government's Department of Natural

Resources, Mines and Energy, and the private sector, Simtars Director Stewart Bell said.

The partnership is aimed at furthering areas of safety and risk management.

The Worley Group is a leading provider of professional services to the energy, resource and complex process industries, while Simtars provides a

broad range of safety-related scientific and engineering consultancy, research and testing services to mining and related industries.

Stewart Bell said Simtars gas monitoring systems, which are used in the Australian mining industry and overseas, can be used in the petrochemical

"Worley are a leading designer and construction company in this field and, by working together, we can use Simtars gas monitoring systems and Worley

design solutions to improve safety in the petrochemical industry," Mr Bell

said.
