The mine has received and is installing new equipment from German equipment manufacturer DBT for a new longwall extension. The new equipment includes two conveyors, conveyor belt, hauling equipment and electric equipment. In addition, communication equipment, belt and two degassing units are to be installed.
SUEK, which allocated more than 400 million roubles ($A19 million) for its equipment, allotted an additional 290 million roubles to obtain support equipment and extra gear for the installation. This included ventilation and electric supply systems, two borers, and a pump station.
According to RIA Oreanda, the new DBT equipment will increase production by more than 200,000 tons monthly, for a total annual output of 2.5Mt. DBT was awarded the longwall extension contract for the Kotinskaya mine in 2004.
Kotinskaya mine, one of Russia's most recently commissioned steam coal longwall mines, was purchased by SUEK last year amid a string of significant property purchases.
