AN explosion at a coal mine in China on Sunday killed at least 13 miners.
The explosion occurred at Taiping Coal Mine in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province.
Of 25 miners in the mine when the accident occurred, nine managed to escape, Xinhua news agency reported.
The legal Taiping colliery, with annual production capability of 60,000 tonnes, has a complete set of official licenses and safety production certificates.
An investigation is under way.
