Sensing modules will feature prominently in the display including a new range of units that provide laser safety barriers in hazardous environments, laser range finding and short-range distance measurement.

“They are all either explosion-proof or intrinsically safe, meeting the requirements for use in the oil and gas industry or in underground mining,” Applied Resolution Technologies managing director Geoff Edwards said.

The showcase will also include hand-held laser distance measurement and ultrasonic thickness gauge instruments.

“The new products target mining automation applications, providing IECEx-certified laser-based measurement modules that may be incorporated into wireless networks for logging and monitoring,” Edwards said.

The company says its new line of laser and sensor products will be available in the third quarter of 2012.

Applied Resolution Technologies is a Yamba, New South Wales-based manufacturer which has supplied alignment laser equipment to underground coal mines for 15 years.

QME 2012 is on from July 24-26 at Mackay Showgrounds, Queensland.
